Guys, google “new hiv strain”. Its all over the news as of yesterday.
Type M subtype L
Could this be it? It’s the first new ‘strain’ identified in the last 19 years.....

Indeed a new strain is distinguished. But it is good to know all 3 samples of these strains were detected (picked up by anti-hiv test) in the years 1992, 1993 and 2001 or something. The uniform antibody (believe it's gp160 or something) is produced by all hiv1 types and so picked up by all tests. The only thing that is new is that: they couldn't identify the strain.. There was also a question asked about this on "ask experts now" and Dr hhh/hook also replied not to worry because it was detected in the early 2000 and was detected by normal hiv antibody tests. Also good to know: all 3 cases were in central Africa. So it looks like it's comparible with subtype P and some crf's (with regards to the hard transmission/demographic spread).

Please I become scared again about hiv. Is this strain detected by the hiv tests? Yes absolutely the antibodies test detects this type and same treatment is used.we don't have any subtype of virus we have different type of virus like hiv3.
